A Visit to Remember: Senator Zellnor Myrie Inspire East Harlem Scholars
Last week, East Harlem Scholars Academy Middle School had the honor of welcoming New York State Senator Zellnor Myrie. In a captivating session with our scholars, Senator Myrie delved into the essence of democracy and the pivotal role of elected representatives in voicing the needs of their constituencies.
This visit wasn't just about learning the mechanics of democracy; it was a live demonstration of leadership and civic responsibility. Senator Myrie's insights provided our scholars with a deeper understanding of their role in our democratic society.
The event also shone a spotlight on our newly elected Student Government Body President, Jaydin Lopez. Jaydin took the stage with poise and enthusiasm, sharing her recent initiatives and the impactful work she's doing on behalf of her fellow students. Her words were a powerful reminder of the change young leaders can bring about in their community.
Together, Senator Myrie's visit and Jaydin's speech have ignited a spark of inspiration among our scholars, furthering our commitment to nurturing informed, active, and responsible citizens.
