Eighth Annual Law Rocks New York City Brings Legal Community Together to Rock as Nine Bands
of legal professionals ready to rock for local nonprofits of their choosing

New York City – Law Rocks, the nonprofit organization that produces a global tour of fundraising concerts starring legal professionals, returns to New York City on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Following a successful September show in Washington DC, the muchanticipated NYC event is a highlight of Law Rocks’ fall tour which will round out a year of record-breaking shows across the US.

The nine performing bands all feature musically talented members of the New York City legal community. The 2023 lineup includes four veteran bands, three brand new to Law Rocks, and two that have played a Law Rocks show in another US city. Overall, 14 legal firms are represented. The event will take place at the acclaimed Gramercy Theatre.

Made possible by tour sponsor Secretariat, as well as Hall of Fame sponsor Greenberg Traurig, and Rock Star sponsor General Dynamics Mission Systems, the event has raised $200,000 2 weeks out. Additional sponsors include Allen Matkins; AssuredPartners; Cozen O’Connor; Epiq Global; Glancy Prongay & Murray; Jenner & Block; McCarter & English; Parker Pohl; Schindler Cohen & Hochman; StoneTurn; Thomson Reuters; and Wolf Greenfield.

Notable area industry leaders and creatives are involved with the event. The night will be hosted by Maria Milito from Q104.3, New York’s Classic Rock radio station. Maria has been heard on the New York radio and television airwaves for more than 25 years and is returning for her second year as host of Law Rocks NYC. The Rock Panel of Judges includes Tempt vocalist Zach Allen; Founder and CEO of Black Panda PR, Amanda Charney; Shawn Dailey, an artist manager with over 20 years in music and film; and, returning for her fifth year on our Rock Panel of Judges, Wendy LaManque, attorney and Director of 2 Organizational Compliance & Eastern Counsel for the American Guild of Musical Artists and member of indie folk duo, The Whistles.

Each participating band has selected a nonprofit to rock - and fundraise - for. Chosen organizations include Access Justice Brooklyn, Advocates for Children of New York, Community Foodbank of New Jersey, East Harlem Tutorial Program, Kids In Need Of Defense, League of American Bicyclists, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, New York Stem Cell Foundation, and Operation Birthday. A representative from each organization will appear at the event to introduce the bands.

Law Rocks will also be awarding the first New York City recipient of the new Music Matters grant as part of their 2023 initiative to increase giving in support of music education, particularly for underserved youth. The first New York City recipient of the Music Matters grant is Willie Mae Rock Camp - a free music laboratory for girls and gender-expansive youth in NYC.

The October 19 concert features legal professionals from Allen Matkins; Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard; Cozen O'Connor; Davis Polk; General Dynamics Mission Systems; Glancy Prongay & Murray; Greenberg Traurig; McCarter & English; Midtown Alliance; Parker Pohl; ReNAgade Therapeutics; Schindler Cohen & Hochman; Starr, Gern, Davison and Rubin; and White & Case.

“NYC is always such a thrill,” says Law Rocks Director, Omi Crawford. “The bands are all-in, and fundraise incredible sums for their charity picks. New York was my very first Law Rocks show back in 2014, and one of our best shows, year over year.”
