I chose EHTP because… I am interested in education and had wanted to make a career shift to teaching for a long time. In choosing EHTP, I was looking for a teaching residency program that’s deeply rooted in building community. I love that EHTP places such a strong emphasis on supporting students, families, and teachers.
What’s most exciting about the program: I’m looking forward to learning from mentor teachers and my peers and being able to apply that new knowledge immediately in the classroom.
Hobbies: Reading, cooking, gardening, painting

I chose EHTP because… I love the dual aspect of classroom learning and teaching experience provided by the program. I feel that learning education theory at Hunter College and then being able to apply this theory in practice in the classroom will allow me to learn to be the best teacher that I can possibly be. I was also attracted to the program because I heard that the community of teachers, families, and students at EHTP is extremely connected and supportive of each other. .
What’s most exciting about the program: I am very excited about leading an after-school program at EHTP and getting to work so closely with the students. I am also very excited about all of the important and interesting material I will learn during my courses at Hunter which will allow me to be more successful in my goal to becoming a great teacher.

I chose EHTP because… of its unique and ambitious approach to preparing future leaders. Working and learning in East Harlem will afford me the opportunity to witness the ongoing issues and challenges in communities of color. EHTP is one of those programs where you will emerge a more cognizant and responsible leader with the skills and understanding to make education equal for all.
What’s most exciting about the program: The challenges that await me and the supportive network.

I chose EHTP because… my values and beliefs really align with those of EHTP. I look forward to working in the environment that celebrates and supports each student while strengthening their role in the community.
What’s most exciting about the program:What I am most excited about is taking what I learn in my graduate coursework and implementing it into classroom settings. The hands-on learning will be second to none
Hobbies: I love to explore ! On any given day, you can find me wandering around different parts of the city or planning random trips. I also love arts and crafting!

What’s most exciting about the program: The most exciting part of the program is that it prepares people to be successful teachers in the elementary sector.

I chose EHTP because… I feel that this program will give me the opportunity to further my career in education, as well as give back to a community similar to the one I grew up in.
What’s most exciting about the program: It’s exciting that this is an advanced program and that I will have support while in the program. Additionally, I feel like the environment of EHTP is very diverse and I’m excited to be surrounded by people from different backgrounds.

I chose EHTP because… the program’s structure (slow matriculation into a classroom setting) combined with mentorship and financial support is crucial to preparing residents and preventing burnout. I chose East Harlem because the community very much resembles my own community while still distinctly unique. Working with a diverse group in an urban setting will present new learning opportunities.
