East Harlem Tutorial Program offers a year-round, college-readiness program for middle school students that provides young adults with academic support, engaging enrichment programs, and a caring community. All EHTP after-school and summer programs are tuition-free with admissions preference for residents of East Harlem.
In the Middle School Program, students in grades 6-8 receive small-group, targeted tutoring from staff and volunteers to build core academic skills in math and English Language Arts. They also choose from electives, such as performing arts, STEM, and creative writing. Our signature electives include:
- FIRST Lego League Robotics
- Theater (culminating in a full-length professional quality performance)
- Partnership with Jazz at Lincoln Center
To keep minds active and bodies busy during the summer months, all after-school students are enrolled in EHTP’s Summer Program. The Summer Program is a four-week program that meets five days a week. Scholars enjoy a full day of academic and enrichment activities featuring literacy, STEM, recreational and arts activities, and more.
School Admissions Program
Families of our 5th and 8th grade students participate in our School Admissions Program and receive support from EHTP on how to find and apply to schools that are the best fit for their children. In addition to receiving individualized support, families attend school fairs and open houses across the city, are invited to workshops, and receive support in submitting applications to public, private, and charter schools.
Our Commitment To and Through College
Our commitment to our scholars and families extends beyond middle school. We look forward to building our partnership with our scholars and families in the High School and College Scholars programs.
