EHTP’s Social Services Department serves all EHTP students, promoting their social, emotional, and psychological development, and ultimately helping them become functional and integral members of both the EHTP community and greater society. Social work staff engage scholars and their families, Kindergarten through 12th grade, to support their growth and help students and families cope with the various life challenges that arise. Services include: individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, referrals to outside agencies and services, crisis-intervention, and class-wide emotional literacy workshops.
Ensuring success for our scholars is more than providing targeted academic intervention in classrooms and after-school programs. It is about developing the “whole child,” a process that family members take on each and every day in the home. EHTP partners with families through our Family Engagement Initiative. We respond to the various needs of our families, open up conversation between family members and program staff, provide families with information relevant to their children’s’ success, and nurture a sense of community where families feel welcomed, connected to each other, valued, and heard. Family Engagement activities include: informational workshops, family events, parent networking opportunities, ESL classes, and family support groups.
