East Harlem Tutorial Program offers a year-round, college-readiness program for middle school students that provide young adults with academic support, engaging enrichment programs, and a caring community. All EHTP after-school and summer programs are tuition-free with admissions preference for residents of East Harlem.

In the Middle School Program, students in grades 6-8 receive small-group, targeted tutoring from staff and volunteers to build core academic skills in math and ELA.

Scholars choose from electives such as performing arts, STEM, and creative writing. Our signature electives include:

• FIRST Lego League Robotics

• Theater

• Dance

• Leadership Through Gaming

An insight I gained from my theater class that I’ve brought into the classroom is the value of positive self-talk”
—Skylah | 8th Grade Scholar

To keep minds active and bodies busy during the summer months, all after-school students are enrolled in EHTP’s four-week Summer Program. Scholars enjoy a full day of academic and enrichment activities featuring literacy, STEM, recreational activities, and arts and crafts. Scholars also go on field trip to Pier 46, the American Museum of Natural History and more!

Families of our 5th and 8th grade scholars participate in our School Admissions Program and receive support from EHTP on how to find and apply to schools that are the best fit for their children. In addition to receiving individualized support, families attend school fairs and open houses across the city, are invited to workshops, and receive support in submitting applications to public, private, and charter schools.
