Our First Day of After-School Programming Was a Success!

After-School Programs – Day 1, Check!

Yesterday we successfully kicked off EHTP’s after-school programs as new and returning scholars filled the halls of our classrooms excited and ready to learn!

Elementary scholars chanted “If we succeed, I succeed” during their afternoon round-up, middle schoolers showed off their Core Value ‘Courage’ during fun ice breaker activities, and our high school students worked on their college applications throughout the evening.

We’re off to a great start and looking forward to the year ahead.

EHTP High School Students Close Out Summer With a Visit to Blackstone

Our EHTP High School students were invited to celebrate their many successes of summer program at the Blackstone offices in Midtown Manhattan, one of the leading investment and advisory firms in the world.

Scholars kicked off the morning with presentations from EHTP’s Executive Director Jeff Ginsburg and Joan Solotar, EHTP’s Board Chair and Blackstone’s Senior Managing Director and Head of Multi-Asset Investing. Blackstone’s Senior Managing Director and Co-head of Strategic Partners, Vern S. Perry once again inspired our students with his own story and advice for the future.

Each presenter discussed the value of goal setting, maintaining focus, and having confidence — all critical tools as our high school scholars prepare for college.

We wrapped up the morning with powerful student presentations ranging from learning how to code to the importance of deconstructing gender roles to working to end street harassment. It was clear how much the students grew and how passionately they felt about their projects.

Many thanks to Blackstone for providing students with the opportunity to mark the end of an ambitious and successful summer program at EHTP!

EHTP Scholars Beat the Summer Heat at Field Day

On Monday, August 3rd our EHTP scholars celebrated the end of summer program with an afternoon full of face-painting, hula-hooping, potato sack racing, and more (given that it’s summer in NYC, we couldn’t help but cool off with a refreshing run through the JREC sprinkler system too)!

While it saddens us to see summer program come to a close, we look forward to all the amazing EHTP scholars and events next year will bring.

EHTP Walks the Red Carpet

The Media Studies saga continues!

On April 21st, our amazing Media Studies scholars walked the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival and premiered two films they made as part of their second year with Tribeca Teaches.

Our scholars’ films brought out a range of emotions in the Tribeca crowd. Dooms Date, a dark comedy about cyberbullying, filled the theater with laughter, while their teen pregnancy drama For Two silenced the entire audience with its twist ending.

EHTP’s University Program is organizing a special screening of both films in the coming months – details to come! Check out some photos from the event below.
