Senior Send Off 2015

EHTP welcomes our newest class of College Scholars, our 2015 graduating seniors!

At the Senior Send-Off on Thursday, June 18th, our seniors, their families and college mentors, and University Program staff gathered to celebrate their achievements and congratulate them on this exciting next step. There, they were officially inducted into our College Scholars program, which will continue to guide them through their college careers, and they all received personal laptop computers to bring with them on the next step of their academic career.

EHTP Walks the Red Carpet

IMG_9945

The Media Studies saga continues!

On April 21st, our amazing Media Studies scholars walked the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival and premiered two films they made as part of their second year with Tribeca Teaches.

Our scholars’ films brought out a range of emotions in the Tribeca crowd. Dooms Date, a dark comedy about cyberbullying, filled the theater with laughter, while their teen pregnancy drama For Two silenced the entire audience with its twist ending.

EHTP’s University Program is organizing a special screening of both films in the coming months – details to come! Check out some photos from the event below.

EHTP's Diana Sierra Nominated for Emerging Leaders Award

Diana_SierraEast Harlem Tutorial Program is proud to announce that Diana Sierra, our Deputy Director of Social Services & Family Engagement, has been nominated for the Annual Emerging & Exemplary Social Work Leaders Award, which recognizes early and mid-career social workers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, expertise and dedication to the improvement of social and human conditions in the New York City area. Diana was one of just two individuals nominated by the Dean of Hunter’s Silberman School of Social Work for this citywide award.

Since 2010, Diana has been supporting the social, emotional and psychological development of EHTP’s scholars and families, ultimately helping them become integral members of both their community and greater society. She has been an invaluable representative of EHTP’s work, and proudly embodies our core values.

The Emerging Leaders Award is given by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and seeks to cultivate new leaders and support mid-career trendsetters in the social work profession. Winners will be selected at an awards dinner on December 5, 2013.

We wish Diana the best of luck and thank her again for the invaluable work she has done for social work and family engagement at EHTP!
